The Shurl and Kay Curci Foundation will be visiting Georgia Tech on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Curci Foundation Chief Science Officer Dr. Naoko Tanese will be on campus to meet with early-career faculty to learn more about their proposed research. (Only faculty who can present in person on Oct. 13 will be eligible to participate.) Based on these meetings, selected faculty will be invited to apply to the Curci Foundation for support.

Sloan Research Fellowships support fundamental research conducted by early-career scientists. The two-year $75,000 fellowships are awarded annually to early-career researchers whose creativity, innovation, and research accomplishments make them stand out as the next generation of leaders.

This biannual funding opportunity supports innovative, fundamental life science research that advances knowledge relevant to human health. It seeks scientifically rigorous projects with an established proof of concept, particularly those pursuing novel ideas that may not fit traditional federal funding programs. (Ex: immunology, microbiome, structural biology, cellular physiology, cancer biology, genetics, genomics, microbiology and infectious diseases, stem cell biology, and neuroscience)

Award amount: $700,000 max.

The Georgia Tech Institute for Neuroscience, Neurotechnology, and Society (INNS) is seeking proposals for new activities that advance interdisciplinary research, education, translation, engagement, and community-building related to neuroscience, neurotechnology, and society. Funding is available across three tiers:

• Initiatives: Up to $5,000 for early-stage ideas, workshops, team formation, and pilot activities
• Programs: Up to $10,000 for more developed interdisciplinary efforts
• Center Activities: Up to $25,000 for new or expanded activities associated with emerging or established centers

The opportunity is open to the entire INNS community, including faculty, research faculty, staff, postdoctoral scholars, and students. Each proposal must include at least one co-PI or co-lead and demonstrate an interdisciplinary approach.

This program will advance scientific community datasets to enable scientific discovery and innovation using artificial intelligence (AI) and other methods. Its goal is to increase the value that can be derived from existing scientific datasets by leveraging novel methods and artificial intelligence (AI). Proposals should address dataset security and integrity. Governance and the process for scientific communities to contribute to the datasets should also be addressed. Proposals are encouraged to leverage existing resources.

Anticipated Funding Amount: $60,000,000 to $100,000,000
